Ingredients
One of my favorite things about this cake is that it is relatively quick and easy – at least as far as homemade cakes go. You simply dump all the ingredients together in one bowl and mix. No need to combine separate wet and dry ingredients or get multiple bowls dirty. Plus, the ingredient list is fairly short.
- Flour
- Sugar
- Eggs
- Oil
- Baking powder and baking soda
- Cinnamon and Vanilla
- Chopped apples and walnuts
- Glaze made from powdered sugar and milk
See recipe card for quantities.
Instructions
This is a fairly simple cake. Follow the instructions below.
Preheat your oven and prepare a bundt pan. Use cooking spray to grease it and then coat it with flour to prevent the cake from sticking. Here is a how-to video if needed.
Combined all cake ingredients except the apples and nuts in the bowl of a stand mixer and mix for 3 minutes on medium speed.
Add the apples and walnuts to the batter and stir to combine. The batter will be very thick and a bit difficult to stir.
Transfer batter to bundt pan. Bake for 50 to 55 minutes. Remove cake from oven and allow to cool. Transfer the cake to a serving plate and glaze.
Hint: Allow the cake to cool before glazing. It can be slightly warm or completely cool. If you try to add the glaze when it is still hot, the glaze will run off the cake.
Equipment
This glazed apple walnut bundt cake requires a bundt pan. I always use my kitchenAid stand mixer to mix the batter but a handheld mixture will also work. Lastly, silicon spatulas are useful for stirring and scraping batter as well as spreading the glaze.
Top tip
Let the cake cool before you add the glaze. Then slowly add the glaze to achieve the desired look. I like to spoon the glaze on slowly. I find this gives me better control. You can also slowly pour the glaze over the cake. Let the glaze dry for at least 30 minutes before serving.
