Peanut butter sesame noodles are one of my favorite summer pastas. Their creamy peanut butter-based sauce is quick and easy to make and loaded with flavor. You can serve them as the main course or use them as a side. Peanut butter sesame noodles are especially excellent for pairing with grilled steaks and pork. I serve them most often with grilled flank steak, pork tenderloin, or ribs. These noodles can be served hot or cold which makes them a great side to take to a BBQ. You can impress your friends with this slightly exotic dish that is sure to be just as popular as the usual BBQ sides. I’ve found that kids and adults both go crazy for these noodles. If you are looking for a quick and easy dish to spice up your next weeknight cookout or a great party side, give this peanut butter sesame noodle recipe a try!

Sesame Noodle Notes
Sesame noodles are an Asian-inspired dish that features fresh ginger, garlic, sesame oil, and a few more spices and condiments that you likely already have in your pantry including peanut butter which is the other key ingredient. While I am a big fan of organic/natural nut butter and even make my own quite often – I have found these noodles are best when made with a regular creamy peanut butter brand like Jiff or Peter Pan.
You can serve sesame noodles hot or cold. They will be very creamy when they are still warm but I like them just as well cold. In the summer I usually serve them cold and often take them as a side to parties. They reheat well too if you want to make them in advance and serve them warm.
I typically garnish the noodles with a cup or two of sliced snow peas. I think this adds a nice crunch and contrast to the noodles. It also makes for a beautiful presentation. The snow peas are delicious when tossed in the creamy peanut butter sauce. You can determine the amount of snow peas that you prefer in the noodles or omit them. I also always garnish the noodles with chopped green onion and toasted sesame seeds for a pop of flavor and color.

Notes
Make sure to mince the ginger pretty finely if you don’t want big chunks of ginger in your sauce. I like the texture the minced ginger adds to the sauce but if you prefer, you can also grate the ginger. If you use grated ginger, you can reduce the amount to 1 tbsp.
These noodles aren’t spicy but they do have a little heat. You can reduce the red pepper to ⅛ tsp or omit it if you don’t like heat.
You can use 2 cups of water and 2 bullion cubes if you don’t have chicken stock on hand.
This recipe is easy to scale up or down. I usually do a half batch when I am making it as a side for two.
